Don Betts Donna Ennis Charles Ross

Director, e2e Works

Don Betts leads the e2e effort to assist technology entrepreneurs throughout rural Georgia. In addition to the existing entrepreneur outreach specialist team, he is also developing initiatives to identify, connect and energize early-stage angel investors and to assist the numerous business incubators outside the metropolitan Atlanta area. Over the past three decades, Don has served in numerous key leadership roles, including positions with the U.S. Navy’s nuclear propulsion program, community economic development agencies, private business, the state’s entrepreneur development efforts and most recently with the Georgia Centers of Innovation. Don is a graduate of Emory University, a 1992 graduate of Leadership Georgia and he holds international certifications as certified economic developer and certified incubator manager. Don also serves as a senior fellow with the Rural Policy Research Institute’s Center for Rural Entrepreneurship and is a frequent international speaker on entrepreneur development.

Project Director

Donna Ennis, project director, is responsible for the strategic direction, marketing and outreach, and operations of the Georgia Minority Business Enterprise Center (GMBEC) in Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute. She also assists clients with strategic, business, and market planning; marketing research and communications; public and private procurement, finance, and operations; and business process improvement.  She has over 25 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, and business development, with emphasis on identifying company needs and matching them to the appropriate resources.  Ms. Ennis also has directed marketing activities for Georgia Tech’s Center for International Standards & Quality, lean enterprise services, the Energy and Environmental Management Center.  Trained as a lead auditor for ISO 9000, she has helped companies determine their business process improvement needs and provided direction for implementing management systems and lean techniques.

Ms. Ennis has a B.S. in communications from Boston University and is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at Georgia State University.

Director, Entrepreneur Services
General Manager, Advanced Technology Development Center

Charles Ross is director of entrepreneur services in the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute and general manager of the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC). In that capacity, he manages a comprehensive set of services designed to assist entrepreneurs in the state of Georgia.

These services include: (1) the ATDC, a nationally recognized science and technology incubator, (2) E2e Works, which helps meet the unique needs of technology entrepreneurs located in the rural areas of Georgia, (3) the Georgia Statewide Minority Business Enterprise Center, a federally-supported program that assists minority business owners, and (4) the ATDC Seed Capital Fund, an early-stage technology fund commissioned by the state of Georgia to establish and grow innovative technology-based entrepreneurial companies.

Before becoming director of entrepreneur services, Ross served as a venture catalyst in the ATDC and as manager of the ATDC Seed Capital Fund. Before joining ATDC and Georgia Tech in 2005, Ross was vice president of the Telecommunications Development Fund, where he sourced, structured and managed investments in several early-stage communications companies. He has also served as director of Ameritech’s venture capital division.

Ross holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from Indiana University. He currently serves as a director with the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds, an organization focused on creating and growth innovation capital throughout the United States.
