Randy Cardoza is Managing Director, Economic Development for AGL Resources, the parent company of Atlanta Gas Light, Virginia Natural Gas, Chattanooga Gas, Elizabethtown (NJ) Gas and Florida City Gas.
Cardoza has over 30 years experience in the economic development field at both the local and state levels. He served as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade &: Tourism from 1990 until mid 2000, under Governors Harris, Miller and Barnes. Cardoza was Deputy Commissioner of the Economic Development Division from 1986 until his appointment as Commissioner. During this time period, Georgia attracted more than 350,000 new jobs and $30 billion in investment.
Prior to joining AGL Resources, Cardoza headed the economic development program for the Montgomery (AL) Area Chamber of Commerce and worked on the successful location of the Hyundai automotive assembly plant and major supplier operations.
Cardoza is now responsible for the AGL Resources economic development program which includes assisting in the several states where AGLR has business operations. His prime focus is marketing and assisting states and communities in recruiting new companies and jobs and retaining existing jobs and investment.
Cardoza is a past president and honorary life member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, was included in the Georgia Trend "100 Most Influential Georgians" in 1992, 96-98, and has served on numerous boards over the years within Georgia state government and in the private sector. Cardoza presently serves on the boards of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (Advisory), Georgia Cities Foundation, Georgia Allies, Southeast United States Korean Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Foreign Trade Zone, Quick Start (Advisory) and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development.
